Fat Trel

Fat Trel is a Washington, D.C.-raised rapper and one of the most recognizable voices to emerge from the DMV hip-hop scene. Known for his gritty delivery, street-centered storytelling, and unfiltered personality, Trel built his reputation through a prolific mixtape run that helped establish him as a major presence in the region’s rap movement.

Beginning his career in the late 2000s, Fat Trel gained early attention with projects including Noska Musik and later became affiliated with Wale’s Board Administration. His momentum continued with releases such as Nightmare on E Street, while records like “Russian Roulette” helped introduce his sound to a wider audience. Trel eventually signed with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group in 2013, releasing Gleesh the following year.

Beyond his solo career, Fat Trel is closely associated with the Slutty Boyz movement and has collaborated with artists throughout the DMV and the broader hip-hop industry. His catalog has evolved beyond street anthems to include increasingly personal music addressing his experiences with incarceration, sobriety, setbacks, and growth. His 2018 project Finally Free, recorded following his release from jail, marked an especially reflective chapter in his career.
